DEVISE ENGINEERING S.A. in LIFE Programme

DEVISE ENGINEERING proudly announces that the company is participating at the European Union co-funded LIFE programme with the following project titled: “LIFE B2E4SustWWTP - New concept for energy self-sustainable wastewater treatment process and biosolids management”.

DEVISE is collaborating for the implementation of this project with the following partners: the Research Committee of the Technical University of Crete, serving as the coordinating beneficiary, the Municipal Water Supply & Sewerage Authority of Crete (DEYAR) and a group of companies and scientific institutes from Greece, Spain and the United Kingdom (CETENMA, ENGINNOV CONSTRUCTION LTD, GREENE WASTE TO ENERGY SL), as associated beneficiaries.

LIFE B2E4sustainable-WWTP is a demonstration project that aims to improve the performance of overloaded (and thus, under-performing) extended aeration Wastewater Treatment Plants and protect aquatic environment against pollution caused by WWTPs effluent, at significantly reduced energy requirements by means of a novel process for upfront solids removal (prior to aeration tank). Additionally, the project will demonstrate the valorization of the produced biosolids for electric energy production (through gasification), thus reducing further the net energy consumption of the WWTP and consequently reducing the emission of greenhouse gases. The produced electric energy will be sufficient for energy self-sustainable operation for wastewater treatment.

The general objective of LIFE programme is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value.

DEVISE is dedicated to offer environmental solutions and services to both municipalities and the industry. The company’s successful contribution to the Programme for the Environment and Climate Action (LIFE) will be another milestone towards this direction.

This Research & Development programme started on September 1st, 2017 and will last for 3 years.
